Frequently asked questions
You can edit the text that the PDF stores as text. If the page is a scan or a photo, there is no text to detect: use “Capture area” to move or cover it, or the redact tool.
No. The text you edit is written with a similar standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier, with bold and italic), because the browser cannot reuse the PDF's exact font. Texts you don't touch stay exactly as they were.
By default, the gap is covered with the background color, but the original content technically stays inside the file. For sensitive data check “Truly remove…”: pages with changes become an image and what you deleted can no longer be recovered. Fields and links are removed directly from the PDF.
Yes. Select a field to type its value, tick a box or choose an option from a list. Fields are changed directly in the PDF and stay fillable.
Yes. With “Text field”, “Checkbox” and “Dropdown” you draw fields on the page and set their name, initial value and options. They are saved as real form fields: whoever receives the PDF can fill them in with any PDF reader. With “Link” you add visible (underline, box or highlight) or invisible links, and you can also assign a link to any text, image or shape.
Yes. Consecutive lines that form a paragraph are grouped into a single block that you edit, move and resize as a whole: the text re-wraps to the block width. If you don't want that, uncheck “Paragraph” to work with single lines.
Yes. “Find and replace” goes through all pages, counts the matches and changes them in one go. It works on text the PDF stores as text; the replaced text is written with a similar standard font.
No. The document is processed in your own browser and is not sent to JapalTools or anyone else. When you close the page, no copy remains outside your device.
