How to create your signature as a PNG

A drawn signature is stored as strokes and redrawn at the size you choose, so it does not pixelate. From a photo, the ink is separated from the paper and placed on a transparent background. The image is cropped to the signature, with a small margin, so it is easy to place.

  1. Draw your signature with a ballpoint, fountain pen, marker or pencil (on a laptop, trackpad mode and full screen help), switch to Type or upload a photo of your signature on paper.

  2. Choose the ink colour, the image size and whether you want a transparent or white background. With a photo, mark the signature area and adjust the sensitivity if needed.

  3. Press Create signature image and download the PNG.

Frequently asked questions

When you paste the signature onto a document only the stroke shows, without a white box covering the lines or text underneath. If the program where you will use it doesn’t support transparency, choose the white background.

It is an image, just like a scanned signature: it works wherever a pasted signature is accepted, but it doesn’t identify the signer or protect the document. To sign with legal validity, use a digital certificate, for example with our bulk PDF signing tool.

No. The signature only exists in your browser while the page is open and in the file you download. It isn’t sent to any server or saved for your next visit.

Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, take the photo straight on in even light without the shadow of your hand or phone, and mark only the signature area on the photo. If bits of paper remain, lower the sensitivity or raise “Remove specks”; if thin strokes disappear, raise the sensitivity. The photo is not sent to any server.

No. The document is processed in your own browser and is not sent to JapalTools or anyone else. When you close the page, no copy remains outside your device.
