  1. Choose what to convert: length, weight, temperature, volume, currencies…

  2. Type the amount and choose the source and target units (the arrow swaps them).

  3. Read the result, copy it or click a row in the table to change the target unit.

Frequently asked questions

Exact definitions are used: an inch is 2.54 cm, a pound 0.45359237 kg, a mile 1,609.344 m and a US gallon 3.785411784 litres. The result is only rounded for display; use «Decimal places» to choose how many you see.

They are downloaded from Coinbase's public API when you choose «Currencies» and requested again every minute while the page is in view. Next to the result you will see the time they were obtained. They are indicative: your bank or card will apply its own rate and fees.

Because they are not the same size: the US gallon is 3.785 litres and the imperial gallon 4.546. US recipes use a 236.6 ml cup and a 14.8 ml tablespoon; the metric cup is 250 ml and the tablespoon 15 ml.

MB (megabyte) uses the decimal SI prefix: 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. MiB (mebibyte) uses the binary prefix: 1 MiB is 1,048,576 bytes. That is why a 1 TB drive shows up on some systems as 931 GiB.

Choose «Fuel consumption» and the converter does it for you. They are inverse measures (more litres per 100 km means fewer miles per gallon), so simply multiplying does not work. US and UK miles per gallon are different.

No. The calculations happen in your browser. For currencies, only Coinbase's exchange-rate table is downloaded; the amount and the currencies you choose are not sent. Your browser keeps the latest rates and the time they were obtained, to show them if you go offline.

No. The document is processed in your own browser and is not sent to JapalTools or anyone else. When you close the page, no copy remains outside your device.
