Check a file's hash
Check for free that a file hasn't been changed: pick it, paste the hash and see whether it matches. The file never leaves your device.
Pick the file you want to check
or drag it here: any file, including a raffle certificate
This doesn't look like a hash: it must have 32, 40, 64, 96 or 128 hexadecimal characters (0-9 and a-f).
How to check a hash
A hash is a code calculated from a file's contents: if a single byte changes, the hash changes completely. Comparing it is the quickest way to know a file is the original.
Pick the file or drag it onto the sphere. You can check several at once.
Paste the hash you were given (from the download page, an email…). The algorithm is detected automatically.
See the result: It matches if the file is identical to the original, or It doesn't match if it has changed.

Frequently asked questions

Press the «Check this certificate» link in the PDF or drag the certificate here. If it contains the participant list, the page checks straight away that it matches its hash. If not, also drag the TXT list the organiser downloaded.
MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. When you paste a hash, the algorithm is recognised by its length. MD5 and SHA-1 are shown for compatibility, but they are no longer considered safe against deliberate tampering.
