How to edit a PDF for free without uploading it
Many online PDF editors ask you to upload the file to their servers. With the JapalTools editor the document is opened and changed in your own browser: you can fix a typo, swap an image or fill in a form without sending it to anyone.

Open the PDF and let the editor detect its content
When you open the file in Edit PDF, the tool recognizes the text (grouped into lines and paragraphs), images, shapes and form fields on each page and turns them into objects you can select.

Make your changes
- Text: double-click it to correct it. With “Find and replace” you change a word on every page at once.
- Images and shapes: drag them to move them, use the handles to resize or rotate them, or delete them.
- Add: insert text, images, rectangles, ellipses, lines, arrows, highlights, fillable fields and links.
- Click Save to download the edited PDF.

If you are deleting sensitive data
By default, whatever you delete or move is covered with the background color, but the original content is still inside the file. If you are removing personal data, tick “Truly remove…” before saving: the changed pages become images and what you deleted can no longer be recovered.
Good to know
- The font is not the original: text you edit is written with a similar standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier). Anything you don't touch stays the same.
- Scans are read with OCR: if the page is a photo or a scan, the tool recognises its text with OCR and you can edit it like any other text. Check what was recognised, as OCR can get some letters wrong. To hide data in a scan, Redact PDF is a better choice.
- Pages are handled separately: to rotate, delete or reorder pages use Organize PDF.
Your document stays private
- The file is not uploaded: everything happens in your browser.
- No sign-up: no account or email needed.
- No watermarks: the edited PDF comes out clean.
Your document never leaves your device: JapalTools processes it in your own browser and never uploads it to any server, which matters when it contains personal or tax data.
