How to combine both sides of an ID card into one PDF
Many applications ask for your ID card scanned “front and back in a single file”. If you have two photos or two separate files, here's how to put them in one PDF, for free and without uploading your ID anywhere. It works the same for a driving licence, residence permit or health card.
If you have two photos (front and back)
- Take a photo of each side in good light, with no glare and the whole card inside the picture.
- Open JPG / PNG to PDF and select both photos.
- Make sure the front comes first. If not, move it with the arrows.
- Create the PDF and download it: you'll have both sides in a single file, each on its own page.
If you have two separate PDFs
- Open Merge PDF and select both files.
- Put them in order so the front comes first.
- Merge them and download the resulting PDF.
Tips
- If the form limits the file size, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
- If you're sending it by email, you can add a password with Protect PDF and share the password another way.
- Both sides on the same page: if a form explicitly requires it, note that this tool places each photo on its own page.
