How to sign a PDF for free without installing anything

You don't need Acrobat or any app to sign a contract, an authorization or a form. With JapalTools you sign the PDF right in your browser, on a computer or a phone, and the document never leaves your device.

  1. Create your signature in one of three ways

Draw it with your mouse, trackpad or finger (with a ballpoint, fountain pen, marker or pencil and the thickness and ink you want), type it as your name in handwriting style, or upload an image of your signature. A drawn signature is kept as strokes and inserted in high resolution, so it doesn't look pixelated when you zoom in.

  2. Sign the PDF step by step

    1. Open Sign PDF and select or drag in your document.
    2. Create the signature. On a laptop, trackpad mode lets you sign without holding the button down: one tap puts the pen down and another lifts it. If you need more room, use full screen.
    3. Drag the signature into place and resize it from the corner. With “Copy this signature to” you repeat it on every page or on the pages you choose, for example to initial each sheet.
    4. Click Sign and download to save the signed PDF.
  3. Sign from your phone

The tool works in the browser on Android and iPhone: open the page, pick the PDF from your files or from the email download, and sign with your finger. There's no app to install.

How valid is this signature?

  • It is a simple electronic signature: an image of your handwritten signature placed on the document. It is usually enough for private contracts, quotes, authorizations or work reports.
  • It is not a digital certificate signature: if a procedure requires signing with a certificate, use Bulk PDF signing with your .p12/.pfx certificate, or the app the organization tells you to use.
  • If in doubt, ask whoever will receive the document which type of signature they accept.

Your document stays private

  • No upload: the PDF and your signature are processed in your browser's memory and are not sent to any server.
  • Nothing is stored: when you close the tab, the signature is gone.
  • No sign-up and no watermarks: free, with no limit on documents.

Your document never leaves your device: JapalTools processes it in your own browser and never uploads it to any server, which matters when it contains personal or tax data.
